Tongue Tie Release

Name Of Test Or Operation:
Tongue Tie Release
Other Names Test Or Operation Known By:
Dividing tongue-tie
Reason The Test Or Operation Was Carried Out:
my son was born with a tongue-tie. it wasn't picked up till he was over a week old and not feeding well.
What Was Your Experience Of The Test/Operation:
I was given the choice of wether or it was released or not and we decided to do it for fear of continuted feeding problems and later speech problems. it was done at a hospital on the maternity ward by a specially trained nurse. it was done in front of us and took seconds. It was upsetting as they do cry and he wasn't given anaesthetic. I was advised to put him to the breast for comfort and to stem the blood flow and it did stop bleeding very quickly. He was settled afterwards and recovered well.
After Care:
we are told to give calpol but no other after care was needed.
