What Was Your Experience Of The Test/Operation:
The children had to be put to sleep, then by endoscope they shine a light from in side out where the G-peg is going to be placed, once this is done they make a small cut in the skin and push the G-peg through from the inside out. The back plate is then secured in the stomach wall so that the G-peg can not move about. The children were under for about 45mins.
Next Steps:
The Peg cannot be used for 12hrs and If your child is immunesuppressed you will have a 5 day stay. Once the Peg is ready to use they put diorylite down it first then the feed. The G-peg needs to be turned two days after it been placed, also it needs to be flushed before and after the first use.
After Care:
The site needs to be cleaned, the G-peg needs to be turned and pushed in slightly and pulled back out so the plate does not sink into the stomach. It also needs to be flushed before and after every feed and kept clean to stop infection.
