I think we've all pretty much heard about putting our babies or childs bed up on books to raise them up to help relieve the effects of reflux, but I read somewhere recently that apparently lying on your left side can also ease the effects.
Apparently the stomach and oesophagus connect at an angle and sleeping on the right means the stomach is effectively higher than the oesophagus so acid can rise up the whereas if you lie on your left the stomach is lower than the oesophagus and so gravity helps keep it down.
Has anyone else heard of this and whether or not it is true?
Do you think putting your child with reflux on their left side could help ease the symptoms of reflux at night?

I try to put my baby on his side - it was great whilst in his moses basket but can't figure out how to do it in the cot. He did seem happy on his side :-)
