Mealtimes are a nightmare!

Mealtimes had become a much more relaxed affair but now they are back to being stressful! Whereas the problem used to be getting our eldest to eat, we now can't get our youngest to eat!

he often cries and screams when i mention lunch / dinner and often thinks 1 or 2 bites of food is enough for any 3 year old. after refusing food, he'll then say he's hungry again a short time later. he also often spits food out. he's waking at night with hunger which leaves him feeling very tired the next day.

his food range is getting more and more restrictive. he mainly wants to eat crisps, dried cereal and fish fingers. i feel really sad for him that food doesn't seem to be a pleasure but a stress. We are even battling to get him to sit at the table or stand still long enough to get some food in his mouth.

I have to remind myself to be positive because we've really come along way with food issues. For years our eldest couldn't eat anything other than liquid puree and used to gag or vomit on anything else. now he can eat solids but really only likes single texture food - still, this is massive progress!

Our youngest used to eat a decent range of food but it's become very narrow and I worry that he is developing a food aversion like his brother. I understand why they have the food aversion - they've been in pain and discomfort so long because of their EGID.

Fingers crossed, Great Ormond Street Hospital will have some ideas when we next go there in a few weeks.

It's funny how all these battles at mealtimes, and the limited diet were are all on, has changed my enjoyment of food too.

Our 3 year old has also been having bad nights with leg and feet pain. I wish i understood how this is connected to their condition. Apart from calpol and massaging their legs for hours, i don't know what else I can do to help?
