I took my boys for a physio assessment today as they've had frequent joint pain in the legs for a long time. Sometimes they complain when active e.g walking, running but sometimes they complain through the night. Our youngest gets it worst and can be upset for hours at night.
Anyway, the physio said both boys are hypermobile and need physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. They also need arch supports in their shoes. She recommend bike rides and swimming but not high impact sports. She said the aching and pain will be worse after excercise and growth spurts.
Our consultant says that about 40-50% of children with EGID have problems with hypermobility and pain. I wonder what the link is? Although my kids had complained of leg pains for years - and i had taken them to the GP about it a few times but was always turned away - it wasn't until another mum who's son has EGID told me about the link between EGID and hypermobility that I asked our consultant to check their joints. I am so glad I did as he confirmed they were and we may now be able to help reduce their pain! (thank you Helen!!!!)
