Colic Top Tips

1) Try infacol - we found it better than gripe water
2) try a lactase enzyme in case your baby is sensitive to lactose - ask your health visitor about this
3) you could try lying down in a darkened room at about the time the colic starts and have a quite relaxed feed and cuddle
4) swaddle your baby in a swaddle robe or blanket
5) get a material sling - they are much more comfortable than the hard strapped slings and you can put your baby in a variety of positions. you can even use them to breastfeed discretely.
6) rock your baby or buy a swinging chair - our son found this quite relaxing
7) try going on a baby massage course to learn about giving stomach massages to release trapped wind.
8) if you are at the end of your tether than you could called Cry-sis on
08451 228 669 for advice and support
9) if your baby is in a lot of distress quite often then don't be afraid to get him/her checked out by your doctor - especially if you are concerned it could be something else - better to be safe than sorry. Colic can be mistaken for other newborn problems like 'reflux'.
