Allergy Show was really useful!

Well I'm really glad I went to the Allergy Show at Olympia. I bought lots of food products to try with the kids and I met a really nice lady who makes fantastic birthday cakes for kids with any food allergy (she has a great website http://www.thecakecrusader.co.uk/ ) which will help for upcoming birthdays.
I also decided to buy a home testing kit for food intolerances - the 'Food Detective' Kit. I was a bit sceptical about it and thought it would be hard to do but with my hubby's help I did it last night and it was actually really straight forward. The results said I am intolerant to dairy, egg, brazil nuts and slightly to soya. The strange thing is that my kids are on a dairy, egg, soya free diet! Is this just a coincidence?
The dairy thing wasn't a surprise as I couldn't have milk for a few years in my early twenties. As the strongest result was to dairy I am going to start with that and really reduce it to see if it makes any difference to my tummy aches and migraine.
I recommend the show to anyone who has kids with food allergies as it's a good chance to taste lots of the free-from foods and you can buy most of them at a reduced price. With lots of bargains on offer, I will know for next year to take lots of strong bags and my husband to carry all the shopping!! (Note to self - hide the credit card bill).
