Do orthotic insoles need replacing every time you go up a shoe size?

Hi
Does anyone know if you have to change your orthotic insoles every time you go up a shoe size? My son is 6 and he just went up a shoe size and is now complaining of pain in his arches. Not sure if I should have asked hospital for new insoles or not?
Thanks
Kitty

Hi Kitty
We were told by our podiatrist that they need to be changed every 2 full shoes sizes - but ours are the hard plastic cast ones so not sure if it is the same with the type your boys have.
It may just be that he needs to get used to them in different shoes and in a slightly different position on his foot as he has grown. If it continues I'd get them checked but I doubt the NHS would make them to need changing too often - too costly eh!

Thanks Helen! I'll see how he goes for a bit longer then, he's only had the new shoes 2 weeks.
I hope everything is okay with your 2?
