Allergic Dermatitis - allergic to soap?

Hi
My children are 4 and 6 and have some allergic dermatitis on their hands. I have been getting it for about 3 years now too and it often cracks and bleeds. The pharmacist said we could be allergic to soaps so I wondered if anyone could recommend a safe soap i could try?
Also does anyone know a good emollient that's not too greasy as my youngest son won't have greasy creams on his skin?
We seem to be gaining allergies / intolerances over the years - is anyone else experiencing this? We only had food allergies before but now we have some airborne and skin ones. I hope we won't get anymore and that my children won't develop drug allergies like I have.
Thank you,
Kitty

i use simple soap, and i use aqurious cream also dipabase. we have the same problem as the whole family suffer from excema. i also use johnssons baby soap.
Oilatum - just the basic cream is good for bedtime. It's sort of the lightest-weight heavy one I've found. In the same way, if I put bubbles in the bath (just Johnsons or simple) with a little squirt of bath oil, it's not greasy because the bubblebath breaks the oil up into tiny drops, and Rubes just comes out nicely comfy.
Proderma - pricey but a sort of light foam that disappears super-quick, leaving no residue. Have used it for quite acute reactions on Rubes when she was so sore she didn't want me to touch her little paws, but because it looks pretty exciting, she's always up for this one.
Frankly, hydroquartisone is brilliant. I know people worry about side effects but I've used it when I needed it alongside a very strong steroid called Dermovate for about 15 years, and I think it's awesome. I find with steroids I've been able to use it for say a week and then stop for a few months and go back to normal creams. This keeps it all damped down and comfy with absolutely no skin-thinning whatsoever.
Soapwise - Johnson's, Simple and Corine de Farme.
I must admit when Rubes is very sore (which doesn't happen often, thankfully), both hubby and I let her put the various creams on us first. She also has a plastic piglet who has just about the best skin in the business due to frequent applications. His nappy area is very clean, and his nose is blown daily... ;)
Cath - little one born 2009 has inflamatory bowel and colitis...
Hi
thanks for this. I will try to get some of these creams from my pharmacy.
also thanks for the tip on letting him put it on me first, that will accidently get it on his hands without him thinking i'm putting it on him!! fab idea and I'll try it tonight!
Thank you!
