Relapse
Submitted by Kitty on Sat, 01/17/2009 - 21:19.My 2 boys seem to be having a relapse.
Our eldest is having tummy aches, has 2 painful mouth ulcers, off his food, is very tired and looks pale.
Our youngest has had loose stools again and is having trouble sleeping - some nights he's thrashing for hours. We are all desperate for some decent sleep! He's still spitting his food a bit too but we've just realised he too has the mouth ulcer problem so maybe he's spitting the food out because it hurts?
We are getting some blood test results back next week for our eldest son - i'm hoping it'll tell us why he's getting them so often. I hope it's easy to treat - a supplement or something? It's never that simple though...
If they think they can help him then i'll also get our youngest referred so they can treat him too.
Our youngest is now being referred to the feeding team at Great Ormond Street Hospital so hopefully they can advise me on getting him to eat more as he's still having a lot of Neocate (especially when he's having a relapse).
Will post any advice we get in case it helps other parents.
There is some good news though - my boys aren't fighting half as much as they were and my youngest has stopped hitting and being aggressive. I hope it lasts as life is so much easier now they've calmed down! I think they probably just fight like normal siblings now (although tiredness seems to make them lash out a bit too much) and they seem to be wanting to play together more. I'm really really happy about it as i'd love them to be close.
