Deafness and Hearing Problems

The Information centre is a resource that is created by the users of Parentsown.co.uk.

If you have information (white papers, useful links, studies, advice etc) that you think other parents could benefit from add a page (using the link below) to create a new page in the Deafness and Hearing Problems Information centre book.

All links will automatically turn in to a web link, and you can attach files (pdf's, Word documents etc) if you wish.

The more pages we add the more information there will be for parents to search on.

Glue Ear / Otitis Media and Ear Infections / Otitis Media

My son had lots of ear infections under 3 years old and we were told it was possibly causing glue ear. He didn't need grommets and it did stop of it's own accord. However, it left him with a dislike of loud noises and the doctor said this is because his hearing would have been affected, and now that the glue ear has cleared, sounds suddenly seem really loud to him. Apparently, this problem resolves in time as kids get used to the new volume of sounds!

I found this site was good for info on glue ear:

This has good info on ear infections:

This is good info on Perforated eardrum which can be caused by ear infections.
