Bereavement

The Information centre is a resource that is created by the users of Parentsown.co.uk.

If you have information (useful links, advice etc) that you think other parents could benefit from add a page (using the link below) to create a new page in the Bereavement Information centre book.

All links will automatically turn in to a web link, and you can attach files (pdf's, Word documents etc) if you wish.

The more pages we add the more information there will be for parents to search on.

Factsheet about When a Child Dies in Hospital

If your child has died in hospital or if you have been told your child may die in hospital then you may like to be prepared for what will happen afterwards.

The factsheet talks about what happens when your child dies in hospital, organ donation, registering your childs death, arranging a funeral, how you and the childs silblings may feel, finding help and support.

The UCL Institute of Child Health have written a factsheet called 'When a Child Dies' and although it is based around families at Great Ormond Street Hospital, it may still be useful for other families.

Terminal Illness

If you have a child that is dying then you may find it helpful to look at a site called Terminal Illness – www.terminalillness.co.uk

The site gives information about financial concerns, looking after yourself as a caregiver, thinking about death and how to deal with bereavement, seeking support, respite and palliative care and much more.

There is an article specifically about having a terminally ill child - http://www.terminalillness.co.uk/when-a-child-is-terminally-ill.html

There is also an article about caring for a dying child - http://www.terminalillness.co.uk/caring-for-a-dying-child.html
