Why will my 18month old only eat puree? If he has any lumps or 'bits' he gags and spits it out. Sometimes he's sick too. I am still having to puree foods completely or buy the first stage baby jars for him and wondered what i should do.

Moving infants onto lumpier foods during the weaning process can be challenging. Start by blending half the foods and mash the rest of the foods into to mix. If using your family foods don't add any salt or
sugar to it.

Slowly, increase the mashed texture of the mixture so they gradually get introduced to lumps.

You didn't mention if your infant is taking fingers foods. This is a great way introduce different textures, offer banana, toast with jam, soft pitta bread, or slightly cooked vegetables (soft), soft fruits like melon, water melon and pear. Keep trying and don t show the infant that you are worried as they will pick up on this. Try and eat with your infant at the table.

If you have any concerns about their weight gain or this continues speak to the health visitor.
